The Seattle Boat Show

Both Quinn and Ava ran over to the yellow speed boat probably because it reminds them of their papa and his boat.

We just went to the boat show and all had a good time. We first went to the boats afloat show on lake Union where we checked out a 112' yacht. That thing was amazing and only $11 million. Then we drove over to Qwest field where they had the main event. It was amazing how many boats they had in there. I just want to know how long it took to setup. Anyway they had a trout pond setup to catch and release the trout. Quinn caught three fish. They also had boats on the field that you could kick a field goal for your name to go into a drawing for a chance to win a boat. Quinn tried but came up short, but his dad made it, so hopefully on Saturday they'll pull our name.

Inside they had a fishig simulator game that your fishing for a king salmon. They computer scores you on how well you work the fish. At the end of the night the top ten names go into drawing for a prize. Quinn got his name on the board and so did his grandma.

QUICK UPDATE: This is Saturday Feb. 2nd and Quinn won a portable generator valued at $1,000 not bad for only three. He is definately Matts son. Matt has some luck winning prizes.

The Funny Things 3 Year Olds Say

We decided to give our blog a face lift and give it a new template (just in case you didn't notice). Also we added a column to the right called QFQ (quotes from Quinn), every day he says hilarious things (at least they're funny to us) and we just thought we would share them with you guys. I'm sure all of you with small children experience the same crazy things that come out of their mouths. I wish I could remember more of the funny things he said recently, but I started with the ones I could remember. This is also a good way for us to help preserve those fun moments in life.

Matt:
Christina seems to be having difficulties in life right now keeping her body healthy. I know hurting her toe was my fault, but yesterday Christina was getting out of the car in the garage and when she put her foot down her shoe was wet and slide out from under her causing her to do this graceful slide right out of the car on to the ground smacking her back and elbow in the process. I was cautious not to just come out and laugh at her, because she gets upset if I don't at least find out if she was okay first, so after I ran around to help her I asked her to let me know when I could start laughing at her because it was HILARIOUS!

Christina:
Ok, in my husbands defense, it was hilarious, but not at first. I was getting out of the Durango, so actually it was a long way down, and my back and elbow are still sore. But last night as a lay on the couch with a heating pad I couldn't stop laughing. I can't imagine what it looked like to Matt as he watched his wife go to step out of the car, slip, smack her self against the car, and then slide down to the pavement (wow, that sounds really dramatic). Well, atleast I have the cane I got for my 30th birthday, they are coming in handy sooner then I thought they would.

Christinas 30th birthday and our long road trip

Christina as she puts it is now OLD! She turned 30 on the 5th of January. She had a surprise birthday party where friends and family gathered to celebrate. It turned out well, except that 2 years in a row now Christina got sick from something she ate.
Not pictured is Christina with the two canes she received outfitted with horns and whistles.

As it turned out Matt really didn't break Christina's toe, but bruised it pretty good. Christina has made a full recovery and is now able to walk and lead a normal life. Christina was concerned that if she went to the doctor they might have to amputate her toe. She gets a little dramatic sometimes. With Christina's toe recovered, Matt was going to take Christina snowboarding for her birthday, but a last minute flight to Texas postponed those plans which led to Matt driving his car back to Seattle and a long road trip for both Matt and Christina. Luckily they were able to go without the children. Christina flew into Phoenix and visited our friends the Wakes until Matt got there from Houston, which was a FUN 18 hour straight drive. We decided to drive through California and up verses through the shorter route of Utah due to the heavy amounts of snow fall. We really wish we could have gone through Utah to visit friends, but would have been sad since Quinn and Ava were not with us, also we wanted to check on our belongings which have been in storage since April. Instead we were able to drive through Lancaster, CA and visited family and friends there. It was nice to visit with those we got to see, unfortunately the visits were way too short. We really wish we could have taken our time driving back to Washington and visited more friends and site see, but we were on a schedule since Matt's parents were watching Quinn and Ava. Christina was sad to be so close to San Francisco (her favorite city) and not go through. It took 4 days and a little over 2700 miles to drive to Seattle from Houston. It was still very fun for us to be alone for those days and hang out without the children.

2008 Happy New Year

Christmas went well. However, it was very crazy with 22 people in the house Christmas day. Quinn got his "gorilla toy" as he calls it from Santa. For the past month he had been asking for this gorilla toy for Christmas, so we had Quinn write a letter to Santa asking for the toy. Ava got a play kitchen, which she likes to play with. Matt had fun spending 3 hours putting it together Christmas eve after the kids went to bed.

We had a white Christmas this year. We didn't wake up to snow, but at about 2:00 in the afternoon it started snowing and we had light dusting of snow on the ground. A couple days after Christmas we took the children to the mountains to got play and sled in the snow. Quinn loved it, Ava hated it until we got her in the sled and then she didn't want to stop.

does this look like a girl in pain?

The next day we took the kids to the children's museum, where Matt sat on Christina's foot and broke her toe. Matt was sitting on a chair shaped like an upside down U. The sides were solid and he tried to adjust it and accidentally slid the chair over on top of Christina's toe while sitting on it. Christina wanted to throw up due to the pain. They had to wheelchair her to a security vehicle and they drive her to our vehicle. The guy who drove us told us that it could have been worse and told us about an incident the day before where a father and his 7 year old daughter were ice skating; she fell in front of him and he ran over her hand cutting one of her fingers off.

For New Years we went on the parents boat and watched the Space Needle Show, which was quite a disappointment due to technical difficulties. They said that the computer software was corrupted, which caused the fireworks to stop twice before they let them off manually. While everyone was outside watching the fireworks Annie the dog was inside left unattended. She was in doggy paradise for the 10 minutes we were outside. She helped herself to the food that was left out, which included two whole sides of smoked salmon, one of which was Cajun smoked, also about a dozen bacon wraps including the toothpicks which held them together, and she finished off the remainder of the baked brie. She did however leave the vegetable platter alone, go figure. This is a dog who usually throws up people food, because she cant handle it, so there was lots of concern of her throwing up all over the boat, along with a dozen toothpicks in her intestines. We spent the night on the boat and she slept in the shower that night. Amazingly she never had any problems digesting the food.

Most of us are getting over being sick. Christina had the flu for a couple days, Ava has a cold, Matt had a sore throat and as far as we could tell Quinn was fine. Were all just trying to recover from the Holidays and put the house back in order.

Here is Ava's other Christmas dress.

We also built gingerbread houses. Actually they were gramcracker houses, except for Tawsha's on the far left she used a gingerbread kit from Costco.
